The G36K is a compact version of the G36, being equipped with a shorter 318 mm (12.5 in.) barrel and handguard. It has been developed in close cooperation with the Special units of the Federal German Armed Forces. The goal was to meet tactical requirements of these units, such as paratroopers and civilian police patrols, for a weapon with small dimensions and low weight.
The G36K is the ideal firearm for situations where a full size rifle might be cumbersome and yet a desire for muzzle velocity retention is paramount. It is an extremely effective specialist weapon with full assault rifle capabilities over short and intermediate distances.
Since the G36 system allows a high degree of component commonality, there are many interchangeable accessories for all models.
